What a grand adventure! Walked down the main street of Nievsky Ave after finding a local place for breakfast that we went to 3 times during the weekend.
Took us about an hour to walk to the Fortress of Peter and Paul. We walked along the river as the distant fortress became bigger and bigger. As we walked along the hermitage, all I could think was wow-its good to be here in the freezing cold with no tourists. Apparently in the summer its packed.
What a grand place, learned so much history about Russia. We relied on the audio tours for all of the sights.
The most spectacular part of the Fortress was the Cathedral. Ofcourse this is where I realize some app (probably Delta airlines) is draining my battery and my iphone dies. No pix, these pix are from Natalia.
This is where the last Tzar's are buried. St. Petersburg is named after Peter the Great, founder of St. Petersburg ofcourse.
