Local Experience -- Overnight train from Moscow to St. Pete's

How lucky I was to have a friend willing to go with me to St. Petersburg for the weekend.  Even better, her hubby wanted to go to.  Local company -- who could ask for anything more.  Natalia and Alexi (nicknamed Garfield because he has red hair + looks like Garfield the cat).

She booked 3 beds in a 4 people carriage hoping we'd get lucky and have no one with us in the top bunk.  No such luck, both going and coming there was a lone man with us.  Didn't know if I should feel uncomfortable, but they felt totally natural -- so I guess its a common experience.  We had to share a bathroom (yuck), but beds were comfortable.  I felt like I was on a grand adventure.
I was so tired -- just arrived from Newark that day around noon.  Wanted nothing more than to hit the sack.  Garfield and the man yacked and yacked in the night and I thought to myself, "What could they be talking about?  Good new friends".  Next day he said they struck up a great conversation about fishing!
