Why Don't Men Wear Foundation?

I hadn't experimented with foundation until I was about 35 or 40.  Always had this theory that it clogs your pores.  When I started speaking on panels and wanted to look polished in important meetings I would attempt to put foundation on.

Recently I had a make-over and bought $200+ of Smashbox makeup.  New heights of BB cream and moisturizing foundation -- oh how I prayed it would cover up my dark circles and even out my red cheeks.  I diligently got up ten minutes earlier one day to apply all my make up for an important meeting.  There I was sitting, opposite a row of similarly dressed men -- all in the business casual uniform, long sleeve button down dress shirt with a white undershirt beneath.  Khaki or navy blue dress pants.  Contrast that to the women who wore everything and anything.  Totally opposite.  I had on a sleeveless power dress.  I have a theory that power dresses make a statement, sleeveless can be very professional if its the right dress.  It was a roasting hot day, but the a/c was blasting.  I felt slightly cold but was warmed by the inches of foundation on my face -- a blanket of protection against the air condition.

Made me wonder if the men had been wearing foundation, would they have been warmer.  Or, even more basically, why don't men wear foundation?  Why are women so self-conscious?
