Anti-Asian Sentiment: Racist

I get so made when I see orange-faced 45 spewing his hate on TV "briefings".  The amount of harassment and hate he has caused not only to Chinese-Americans, but all people makes me angry.  Why doesn't anyone stop him?

A Chinese woman was attacked in the subway and a young man purposefully almost run over by a bigot.  They discussed closing Stuyvesant HS before the Board of Ed officially closed schools because the Asian kids were getting targeted.  Where is the Mayor in all of this?  Where are the police?  Why doesn't the media bring these victims to life instead of reporting that calling COVID-19 the "Chinese Flu" or Kung Flu is stirring anti-Asian sentiment?  The world is going backwards.  People don't forget their mistakes.  Our human race is going to extinct itself due to advancement of stupidity.  I'm sad.

I had to stop going on Twitter because my blood would boil.  I'd re-tweet these harassment stories and say this must stop but I realized it does no good because I'm preaching to the choir.  The people we follow and who follow us have our views and beliefs.  You can't change the others.  I'd feel like jumping through my iphone, grabbing them by the neck and screaming DIDN'T YOUR MOTHER TEACH YOU MANNERS?  WHY WOULD YOU BEAT UP A KID JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE CHINESE?  WHERE ARE YOUR MORALS?  They have none, or they just don't have the same as me.

So I did something I never did before.  I called Sen John Cornyn (R- TX) after he said the virus started because its in Chinese people's culture to eat bats and snakes and rats.  What an idiot.  I left two messages on his office's voicemail.  What's next?  Should I start calling NY 1 or the other local news outlets?  Should I start writing Op-Eds to the NY Times?  What should I do?  I started Googling "anti-Asian sentiment" or "where to report anti-Asian hate crimes in NY/NJ".

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • Call 311 in NYC.  Thank you Mayor DiBlasio for including this message in a briefing.  If you know someone who is harassed & doesn't want to report it, report it for them.

  • A SF Bay Area group has developed a web page where you can report anti-Asian harassment

http://www.asianpacificpolicyandplanningcouncil.org/stop-aapi-hate/

Here's the story of how it started:

I'm not sitting still on this.  You can't fight irrational people but you can stand up for yourself & humanity.
