It all started with a question--Are those vineyards way up there?
NO-those are fixtures to prevent avalanches way up in the mountains. People were killed up there years ago............But there's a great panorama trail up there you should try- It takes one hour and is easy. Are you sure its easy? YES-----Ok!
So the next afternoon the wonderful receptionist at Hotel Oberland gave us specific instructions.
Take the train to Wengen (we wondered where that little yellow train going up the mountain went to that we saw every day from our front window).
- from Wengen get the gondola up to Mannlichen.
- from Mannlichen find trail #33 and walk to Kleine Scheidegg.
- from Kleine Scheidegg take the train back to Lauterbrutten.
OK-got it! Only when the Swiss say the hike will take one hour, it takes 1.5 hours. And when they say its easy its medium 😖😖. Old ladies with walking sticks, kids and dogs whizzed passed me.
But the view----OH-no wonder they call it Panaoramic trail.
