The Wildebeest Migration We Missed

We waited and waited and waited.  We timed our trip to Tanzania (August) so we could see the migration (just like on National Geographic!).  Wildebeest come down south from Kenya.  Tanzania is quite a large (North to South) country but our 3 city adventure kept us in the North of Tanzania, on the border of Kenya.

We timed our trips out of the lodge early morning or late afternoon since that's when most animals come out.  For 3 days we sat in the jeep and waited to no avail.  We didn't see it.  Luckily we met a couple at the airport on the last day who DID see the migration the day before and shared their video.  Here it is.  All I can say is WOW.  Am I sad I missed it?  Yes.  Would I have traded my time on the safari since I didn't see it?  NO, not at all.  All the other sights were a dream come true and each day/animal was an adventure in itself.

The Wildebeest Mirgration We Missed
The majestic enormity of the animals makes you feel so small.  Let's keep the wonder of the world alive and protect the earth and these animals.  I want to go again!
