Amsterdam is a Resilient City

We took a free walking tour and learned alot about Amsterdam.  It has survived great floods and great plague and fire.  Its a beautiful city of many canals and known for liberal ways.  Prostitution and pot are legal.  They even showed us the #1 place to buy pot, as rated by the World Series of Pot Smoking.  Mainly tourists.

Was annoyed when hubby when back to Grey Area, #1 pot store

They have the best french fries and we took advantage at a restaurant called Ter Marsch which specializes in burgers.  I had fries with truffle mayo and David and a great burger!  This restaurant is right at the entrance of the flower market.

We (I) enjoyed going to the flower market but soon realized its a series of stalls that more or less have the same thing:  beautiful flowers.  Wanted to buy a bunch for the hotel room but didn't want to carry them around,

They had all these cool holders and we were disappointed we could not bring bulbs back in to the US.

We then took the tram to the Alfred Cuyp market and all I wanted to buy was cheese!  I stood in line at the stall where locals were buying cheese and just bought whatever they bought.  Jarlsberg, is I think called Farm Cheese and I got it with herbs, as well as plain and ate it for breakfast and snack everyday!

these are the famous Stroopwafel cookies.  Thin cookies with caramel inside.  Kind of chewy-would have liked them better if they were crunchy.  A national treasure here.
