In 1988, President Reagan signed the Civil Liberties Act to compensate more than 100,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during the WWII.
This included a formal apology and $20,000 for compensation to survivors. Part of the Congressional report said the country had committed a "grave injustice" motivated by "racial prejudice, war hysteria and the failure of political leadership."
Please don't let history repeat itself. Doing the same thing over and over again is the definition of insanity. I am saddened by the recent events in the world and political environment.
I got my information from an NPR story, "From Right to Wrong, A US Apology for Japanese Internment.August 9, 2013
