We checked in to our little hotel which literally was in the heart of the old town--perfect location. Hotel L'Addresse, recommended by our vineyard tour person. Very small, no dressers to put your clothes, but very charming and you couldn't beat the location.
The old town was literally around the corner from our hotel The buildings in back are what you see when you investigate Tours. Very small town, very touristy but boy did we love it! |
We walked around at about 2:30pm to look for lunch. Lunch ends at 2:00 so we were out of luck -- only coffee at most places until we found the Irish Pub. Eat light David, we are going out to dinner in a little while (7pm). I ordered a salad with pate: to my surprise, look what I got --> a bacon lover's dream. Beautiful greens with pate, bacon, gizzards or sweatbreads or some other organ meat. WOW!
Forgot to tell you that we went to a wine experience (using Chase points) on our first day in Paris. Thought it would give us something to do to keep us awake--only a one hour event. Turned out to be a nice hands-on learning center with interactive activities. We paid for a one glass tour but got upgraded to a three glass entry ticket, with two bottles of wine with our own label! It was so much fun to drink our "own" wine, but we quickly threw it away (after carrying it on the train to Tours) once we drank the "good stuff".I wanted to walk along the river but it seemed far away. We found a walkway over a highway which we thought would take us to the river....It took us to the University of Tours. We entered the dorm and walked downstairs to the river on the other side. Boy did I feel like an intruder!
