The Library

For those of you who bought a Kindle about 2-3 years ago, you can identify.  I haven't been to the Library since 2012 (card expired).  When my kids were growing up, the Library was a Saturday or Sunday ritual, just as it was when my Mother took us to the East Broadway Branch years ago.

There are two books I want to read:  Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan, and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.  I wanted them in hardback so went to the library.  Amazingly, the "T"'s were right on the same shelf but only one copy of the big fat Goldfinch was available.

Renewed library card in hand, I asked the librarian if books for loan were available on Kindle, and she said yes!  I spent 20 minutes with this nice librarian signing up to the elibrary.nj.com and then finding The Goldfinch AVAILABLE for borrow on Kindle.  Yay!  Got it in both e-version and hard copy.  SCORE...

Came home to download, only spent 20 frustrating minutes on the Kindle helpdesk because somehow my kindle is linked to both David and my's Amazon Prime.  Finally got it corrected by a helpdesk person who really was helpful (oh how helpful, thank you, and how unexpected, so thank you!).

Best yet--the librarian (Cathy) told me to call her to see if it worked.  So when I called her she told me a secret....you can download any magazine on vineo for free through the BH library system!

So I did---now I have a lifetime of magazines to read................and those of you who know me, can see me smiling now and know why.

I used to go to the library all the time, too, when I was a little girl. Every single Saturday was spent at the library. I had no idea you could download books at the library onto your Kindle, thanks for the tip!

Claudia--we had the same upbringing! We went to the library every Saturday too. Something I did with my own kids.
