STATE
OF NEW YORK (
COUNTY
OF NEW YORK ) ss
CORPORAL
ROBERT WONG being duly sworn, deposes and says:
-
My name and rank are as above given. I am a member of the Headquarters Company, 525 Military Intelligence Service Group., Fort Bragg, North Carolina. My Army Serial Number is U.S. 51071995. I was inducted into the Armed Forces November 16, 1950, at New York City where, prior to said induction, I resided with my brothers and sisters and uncle, Raymond Quan, at 95 Elizabeth Street, New York City.
- I am an American citizen by birth, 23 years of age, having been born at New York City January 30, 1929, the son of Kern Wong ( a Chinese merchant who died November 4, 1931, at Bellevue Hospital, New York City), and MAY QUAN WONG (aka QUAN SHEE WONG), in whose behalf this affidavit is executed.
- I have never been convicted of any crime in any jurisdiction, nor have I ever committed any act which could have resulted in my expatriation or in the loss of my citizenship or of my rights thereby. I am anti-communist and anti-totalitarian, a lover of my country and a firm believer in its form of Government and of its principles as set forth in the Constitution.
- I left the United States in May, of 1935, with my said mother and my brothers and sisters, via the Port of Seattle, Washington, aboard one of the ships of the President Line, probably SS President Jefferson, where I resided with the members of my family, there attending school, until October or November, 1940, when I returned to the United States via the Port of San Francisco, California. I resided with my uncle in New York City, until my brothers and sisters joined us at 95 Elizabeth Street, New York City. Upon leaving school I accepted various types of employment until my induction, above noted.
- Although I have never been the sole support of my said mother, the other members of our family having at all times generously contributed to the extent of their capabilities, as the oldest son I have been the main support and my Dependency Allotment in her favor has been approved. She is also the beneficiary of my War Risk Insurance policy. Currently I have no income other than my army pay, and my savings have been merged with those of my brothers and sisters in the thrift account carried in the name of DOROTHY WONG SETO, account No. 39385, with the National City Bank of New York, 125th Street Branch, New York City. The current balance in this account is, upon information and belief, in the neighborhood of $1,300.00. Other than my said mother, I have no dependents, nor have I ever executed any affidavit of support or sponsored any other person or persons. I stand at all times ready and willing to support her, either individually or with the help of my brothers and sisters and unhesitatingly guaranty, individually as well as with them, that my said mother shall never become a public charge.
- Upon information and belief, Private Law 587-82nd Congress, Chapter 254-2d Session, has been enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress Assembled and was signed by the President May 9, 1952, to the effect that my said mother, now residing at 98 Johnson Road, Hong Kong, with mailing address c/o KAI CHEONG CO K.W. Tsung San Lane W., Hong Kong, shall be helf and considered to be a returning immigrant under section 4(b) of the Immigration Act of 1924, as amended, in order to facilitate her entry to the United States to region the family. I execute this affidavit in order to help to identify my said mother, to give testimony as to her integrity, bravery and great love, and to assist the Officers of the United States Consular Service and the Officers of the Investigation the Naturalization Service in determining her eligibility to enter the United States to rejoin her children whom she returned to the United States at great personal self sacrifice.
- I have never known my mother to be other than good, kind, loyal and brave. I have never known her to be other than a great lover of the United States and a firm supporter of the American Government and the principles for which it stands. She brought up my sisters and my brothers and myself to love our country, and to be self respecting, law-abiding citizens. She is against communism and any other form of totalitarianism. Since the enactment of the hereinbefore mentioned law in her behalf, I know of no reason why she should not be granted the travel documents she seeks and be permitted to enter the United States as a returning Immigrant as by law has been provided.
- As a means of identification I have caused to be hereto immediately below affixed the photographic likeness of my said mother, MAY QUAN WONG, also sometimes known as QUAN SHEE WONG, and that of myself, each with our respective names thereunder given, and each stamped with the Notarial Seal of the Notary Public who shall notarize this affidavit.
MAY QUAN WONG CORPORATE
