Still no TV. We have Comcast Triple Play so no land line either. However, we are able to share my neighbor's Internet (THANK YOU!).
Streamed the news yesterday. Wanted to watch the local news so watched Channel 7 - Eyewitness News with Chardy Bederinoit (or whatever) + the other lady (Diana McWilliams?). They focused on the long lines at the Brooklyn bus stations, subway outages, gas, etc. Their website says they regularly stream the 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30 news. Thank you -- somehow they started the 6PM news but it got cut off at about 6:20. Was that an accident, or on purpose?
Then I went to the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, which I watch regularly and like. Somehow this broadcast seemed so much more negative, I almost got pissed off. People suffering, cold, miserable, without power. Yes, we know people are without power. Staten Island tragedy of the 2 boys being swept out of their mother's arms. How horrible.
Made me wonder if the National news is purposefully more provocative. Is the local news really for locals? Why would anyone portray a nastier, more sensationalist story vs. another broadcast? So-today my experiment. I will watch the Channel 4 News for NY with Chuck Scarborough (who is one of my hero's), and then the Diane Sawyer 6:30 ABC News. I'll let you know what I think tomorrow.
Either way, its a no-win situation.
