I remember learning about Dr. Sun Yat Sen in Chinese School. Do you remember how vivid red the pictures were in the books, with the men in uniform and bright red cheeks?
My father recently told me that Dr. Sun Yat Sen came in to his father's bakery on Mott St. before he was born--have no idea what year that would have been, perhaps the 1920s? He said there were so few Chinese people then, if any Chinese person came in, they would get a home cooked meal. So I guess my grandfather served Dr. Sun Yat Sen, father of China, a dinner. How grand!
When I asked my aunt about this, she said she didn't know about it. So--how did my Dad find out? I wonder if this is how wives tales get started. Is it true? YES!
