La Scala - Milan

Teatro alla Scala. I've never seen an opera in my life, so I have no idea what possessed me to get a ticket to the Opera while in Milan. David and I took a half day tour in Milan last summer and loved seeing the red velvet seats and stage at the world famous Opera House. We learned that Maria Callous was the "house" opera prima donna there. Didn't know that she committed suicide after Aristotle Onasis left her for Jackie O. Fascinating. I was on the internet for days, found the schedule and saw that "Tales of Hoffman" was playing while I was there. Should I, shouldn't I? Les Contes de Hoffmann.........Tales of Hoffman...........hmmmm sounds familiar. Think I learned a song called Tales of Hoffman in piano lessons years ago. Got up the nerve to order a ticket online (72 euro) and found that my credit card doesn't have the right security code, so a nice co-worker in Italy helped me buy the ticket. Yay!!!! Thanks!!!!! I'm not a big twitter person, but I decided I should start tweeting more/learn more about twitter. I started to follow Teatro all Scala, and boy do they have an active twitter. They retweet reviews, and one day tweeted live a ballet.....fascinating to follow, I learned something new about social media. Our box was awesome.............there was actually a sex scene in the Opera--Hoffman has sex with a woman, not knowing she is a "robot"..... Ho Ha Ho ha she shrilly screams, how funny. Then- it happens, the opening of the 3rd act, dum, deee deee, da dumm deee deee da dummmm, dee deee daaa daaa-Bacarolle.....YES! I did learn that in piano lessons. Its a scene where 4 musicians play to an audience, only the audience is a bunch of lively young people. Some of the men have no shirts on and it sa total hang out scene.....they are in a theater and move whimsically about. Whimsically, magical, mystical, dreamy...........sway right and left.........loved it.
