Leaning Tower of Pisa June 2011

We drove straight to Pisa after we rented our car (on the Fi Pi Li).

We finally found it, but David wanted to drive around it, to find the best place to park. What a mistake--1/2 hr later, we were lost and fuming!!! God, we were right there-why did you want to drive around it?
Of course it started to pour as we got out of the car--not just rain, but pour. Sengali people swarmed us to sell us an umbrella for 15 Euro--no way, get out of here. I was so annoyed at getting lost I yelled at him. He lowered the price to 5 Euro. then I saw another guy selling small fold up umbrella's and I said I wanted one like that. they tried to sell it to me for 3 Euro. Why would I buy a small crappy umbrella for 3 Euro if I could get a full size fold up for 5? So we got the 5 (see red umbrella in picture). It served use well through the whole vacation as we used it many times. :)

We hammed around (as did all the other tourists) taking these pictures and had lunch in a cafe with a direct view. We were too late to buy tickets to go to the top (4pm), as only a limited number of people could go at a time and it was near closing time. That would be Lucky for us as we got so lost going to the next stop: Pomerance Farmhouse.
