Anticipation Versus Delivery

Its done!
Mom of another college graduate. Two days of graduation, business school the first day, total school the second day.
I have a confession.  The first day was so boring.  It was held at the David Lawrence Convention Center.  Huge ballroom.  Dark, dingy, hotel carpeting with rows of chairs arranged in rows.

About 600 kids graduated and they had each and every one go up, announce their name, and shake the Deans' hand.  Only they pronounced my kids name wrong.  How can you mispronounce Chan?

They said Chun. Stupid Dean, there are a lot harder names than Chan.

I have a strategy on how to get good seats.  I go all the way to the far end of the room, then go straight to the front.  Good side view.  Only Jake was #65, and all the way on the far left front.  Didn't matter we couldn't see anything.

The second day was great.  It was at the Peterson Convention Center -- like graduating in Madison Square Garden.  Huge jumbotron.  Felt compelled to buy nacho's with cheese and popcorn.  At the end confetti came streaming down, it was so festive.  The guest speaker was Charles F. Bolden Jr, Administrator of NASA.  First black man to hold such a prestigious position.  Told us to dream big and never let anyone tell you you are not supposed to be there.  THAT'S RIGHT!

got free pretzels at the end:  couldn't sell them
