Macy's

NPR/WNYC is having a feature on Department Store Memories. Should I call this one in?

Macy's -- The World's Largest Store. That was the department store we shopped at when we were growing up. We'd take the N train two stops from Canal Street (14th, then 34th St) to Macy's and it was right there.

I laugh when I even think about this. My mother took my sister and I to Macy's one day to shop. Somehow my sister and I were playing with the mannequins and we knocked the wig off one of them. My mother was so annoyed at us. She picked the wig up and reached on her tippy toes and threw the wig back on top of her head.

I've never touched a mane quin since.
