There's no other way to describe the opening ceremonies but spectacular! Awesome! I'll never see anything like this again in my lifetime - the show of a century. We walked along the Olympic green to see costumed paraders, but had no idea they would be the 2008 drummers on the field to open the show (yes, actually 2008+ people on the field).
Our seats were right above one of the entry ways so we got to see the paraders come in and out. Biggest surprise was the "pre-show" which was a pageant in itself (wonder if it was televised?)
From the lights and pageantry and waving our flags, to the flashing lights and excitement of the athletes I'm the luckiest person on earth to have seen this. Best part was the end where the gymnast circles the actual TOP of the Bird's Next to light the torch. The marches rowing the ship and the lighted "lemon" people were images that will always light up my head, and imagination. Proud & happy day for China and for me.

I'm so happy you got to experience that live. It looked AMAZING on TV, I cannot imagine what it was like to see it in person. I hope you are having a wonderful time and will write a lot more about your incredible experiences.
