The last Hurrah Tour ended in a town called Leukerbad. You take the train to Leuk, then a 30 minute bus ride up a winding mountain. Its famous for its thermal baths which we went two times. One had a gigantic 4 story slide which I loved and all had pools with massage jets aimed at different parts of the body. You start at one station and a bell rings in 5 minutes for you to move to the next. Water massage! Link here: Go to the Public thermal bath, its the greatest! /leukerbad-thermal-spa/
It has a 4 story slide (did you like Sesame Place as a kid?). Photo here: 4 Story Slide!
The hotel receptionist recommended an easy hike for us to the waterfall. She showed it to us, number five on the map. THERMAQUELLEN - STEG.
Not to be confused with THERMAQUELLEN - WEG
Thermaquellen- steg means Thermaquellen climb.
Thermaquellen-weg means Thermaquellen-path. OMG.
It was only after going the wrong way then reading the many sign that I realized Thermaquellen meant thermal springs. We did both-the climb going up and the path coming down. Walking over the waterfall was beautiful.
That was us 30 minutes ago. |
It was just what I needed to put my goodbyes with Switzerland at peace. Au revoir Switzerland. Its been a wonderful 2+ years.
