We're at the historic National Park Torres del Paine. This was suggested to us by Uncle Woody who saw this on a magazine cover that sat on his coffee table for years --> then took the trip.
I wanted to stay over in the park and enjoy the serenity but didn't want to rent a car and drive. The cruise offered a one day extra excursion the day before the ship sailed so we took it. It ended up being the best thing! We're not big hikers so we got to see just enough of the park to make me happy. It was a 3 hour drive from the boat in Puerto Natales and we saw beautiful condors (the Chile National Bird), guanaco (looks like a cross between a lama and a deer), and the most incredible memory I have in my head: a cowboy and his dogs herding some sheep. How beautiful.
We stopped several times to admire the Towers of Blue which are at the entrance of the park. I didn't realize there was much more inside, many mountain ranges. This was the windiest place I'd ever been in my life, we met some other passengers who said they had to stop hiking because they were blown over by the wind.
