I've been to Shanghai so many times, I decided I should visit somewhere new. I saw in the morning's Shanghai Daily, a new neighborhood full of art culture, so I decided to go there (see picture). What also caught my eye was a Taiwanese noodle restaurant.
I asked the concierge to write the name of the street so I could take a taxi after I visited Jade Buddha Temple. Once I walked in to Jade Buddha Temple, I recalled being there in the past. After half an hour I was ready to leave, just then I saw the sign pointing to the Jade Buddha (I was beginning to wonder why they called it Jade Buddha Temple, as I did not see any jade). You had to pay 10 RMB to see it--glad I did. Big jade Buddha, as the name implies. (But I paid to see something I'd already seen, oh well).
Took a taxi to the new art street, but the stupid taxi driver couldn't find it. He called someone, still couldn't find it. It was near the French Concession area and we drove around and around the same street. I basically got a tour of somewhere near the French Concession for $4.00. I was so frustrated, I got out to walk. I couldn't find it! Took a taxi back to the hotel and had a tuna fish sandwich at Element Fresh.
