Check the bottom of this blog to see my first post.
I started this blog to share my experiences getting my first child off to college. Fast forward 4 years later and child #2 is in the process. It doesn't get easier. Gary's college essay tutor came today and gave us a rude awakening for Jake.
Take the SAT again (3rd time), your scores are not high enough for the colleges you want to get in to. Ugh.
We thought we knew what we were doing since we've been through this before. Gary's English tutor had contacted us independently to work with Jake. We did. It was cheaper and he was good. Or so we thought. A nice young man, aspiring writer, I've found he did the work for Jake instead of teaching Jake to do it himself. Or did Jake just refuse to do the practice and vocab?
The math tutor was a retired math teacher. Really professional. Problem was, his scores stayed the same.
So here we are with six weeks to go before the Nov SATs and college app's due starting Nov 1 through Jan 15. Stomach ache already.
Although expensive, college coach helped alot today frame out what needs to be done to get in to which schools. Helped narrow down the school choices and added one (UCLA - yikes!).
God help us.
