As Margie said there's not much to see in Rio (except the Corcovado-gigantic Christ statue up on the hill and ride the cable cars up to the beautiful view on the Sugar Loaf Mtn).
I met some amazing new friends though and I think it was fate that brought me to this certain Grayline tour out of the hotel. By coincidence I met another Chan (turned out to be Chang......from Canada). David and Soumendra are here on business, they work at Ciso--and ofcourse Soumendra lives in Morris Plains.....just 20 minutes from me.
We had a great dinner at Porcao (Big Pig) where they come around with grilled meats and you signal for more with either a red or green sign. Selina is on vacation at a yoga retreat and to move on with her life. David is a single dad of 5 (yes five), and Soumendra seems to know everything about everything about phones (so I will buy the one he recommended as soon as I get home).
SMALL WORLD
Funny how meeting new friends with so much in common and a love of travel can really leave a dent in your mind. We have so much in common and really seemed to share a common philsophy......I'm amazed at Selina and David's resiliancy and how they savor life.........What a day I'll never forget. This includes this great lady we met from Scotland who I'm convinced is a spy (or as she called herself civil servant) who has lived in Kiev, Tel Aviv and Brasilia... Why does Scotland need spies? I also met this nice young Korean American guy Shaun who lives in Edison NJ and met his wife at NYU.
