Tanzania Here I come! July 2019

It wasn't easy to get to Tanzania:

  • Newark to Toronto
  • Toronto to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia, I didn't know where it was either)
  • Addis Ababa to Arusha (Mt. Kilmanjaro airport, yes we saw Mt. Kilmanjaro from plane)
  • Hour and 15 minute ride to Katambuga House

only one small duffel bag allowed (yes I carried it on).

We stayed in Arusha (common safari starting point) for two nights and enjoyed a coffee farm tour and some shopping.  Our small lodge (only 6 rooms) had the best lunch we had the whole time. Different salads-chick peas, lentils, couscous, sole slaw, little grains, delicious!

After two nights in Arusha, we drove four hours (stopped frequently and saw many animals, especially giraffes along the way).  Here are the National parks we visited (+ found this is a common itinerary, but most also added the Central Serengetti which we didn't)
  1. Tarangire National Park (turned out to be my favorite)  Kichuguu Camp, 2 nights
  1. Ngorogoro Crater (Lake Manyara) :  Acacia Farm Lodge, 2 nights
  1. Serengetti National Park (this is in the North on the border of Kenya):  Chaka Camp, 3 nights

btw-I've been home for 4 days and have 4 more days of malaria pills to go.  This and the yellow fever shot are to guard against the mosquitoes and tse-tse flies.
