We took the metro everywhere -- our stop (Marriott Milan) was called Wagner.. Wagner. With an Italian accent its called "Vagner". Very funny-- we kept saying it, "Vagner, Vagner." The concierge would tell us to get off at "Vagner". My colleagues asked what metro stop I was staying at and I said "Vagner".
Day 2 we went to the Monumental Cemetery. The tour guide suggested we go there--its the third largest monumental cemetery in the world (I'd been to #1-Buenos Aires, but not #2-Seville Spain). David didn't want to go. I really wanted to go. The concierge thought it would be boring, "nothing much to see". It was an adventure. I knew the cemetery tombs and statues were beautiful works of art, but had a better appreciation for them after we saw the Statue of David and an exhibit on how sculptures are made in Florence.
Coincidentally, there was someone buried there named Wagner.
