Fi-Pi-Li

Fi-Pi-Li is a big memory from our Italy vacation.

The Fi-Pi-Li is like the BQE or LIE. Its a highway that connects Florence (Firenze), Pisa, Livorno. We took the train to Florence from Milan and rented a car. I had dreams of going to the Farmhouse and enjoying the scenery, basically doing nothing. David had dreams of going straight to see the leaning tower of Pisa, so we did that. We always seem to get places easily but then get lost for half an hour finding the entrance or parking lot. We were right outside of the Leaning Tower parking lot but David wanted to circle first to see where he was. What a mistake--------half an hour later I was fuming. Ready to jump out. Eventually, as always we found the place but were too late to buy tickets to go up to the top. We took a ton of pictures of us trying to "hold up" the leaning tower. How funny-everyone else was doing that too. That was lucky for us.

Again, we drove to the farmhouse in Pomerance with no problems but as we approached we drove up and down and up and down the road. There was a sign for Il Pratone, but we never drove down the road far enough to find it. Lucky, this nice young couple at a gas station said, "follow, follow"------SO WE FOLLOWED! And got there. I was scared to death, we were in the middle of no where with no cell phone battery, no directions, and worst, the address but not phone number of the hotel. We found the place and the owner, Patricia had us follow her in her car down the road to the apt. The funny thing was two dogs ran before us to escort us down there. What a night!
