All My Life

I was raised to believe I was born in the Year of the Ox (cow). Two years ago, I learned the sorry, sorry truth that I am a rat. Disgusting. I learned it from a HSBC calendar I got from my mother-in-law. Blasphemy, I refuse to be a rat. Rats are cunning (in real life, dirty), shrewd, good in business and smart. Qualities I do have, but if you grow up thinking you're an Ox, how utterly upsetting to find out you're a dirty little rat (Mickey Mouse?)

Frantic calls to my Auntie Simmie confirms she remembers when i was born, the Chinese New Year just occur ed, and so the year of the Cow was over and my birth crossed over in to the year of the RAT. "Don't you remember your cousin Scott was born right after you and you were both born after CNY?". Well no, I really don't remember. How heart-breaking.

It's like growing up Aquarius then finding out at age 40 you're a Capricorn. I identify more with Cow, believe I'm a cow, and will continue to read the fortune of a cow.

Take a look at http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/NewYearDays-PST.htm
They claim the animal year switchover does not correspond to Chinese New Years.
