YES WE CAN!

Lose 5 pounds by December 11. My friend Susan and I have a bet. We have to lose 5 lbs by Dec 11th. This is the day she has bunion surgery. Loser has to give the other $200. I regret doing this, as two times now I've wanted to buy a bottle of wine (did anyway, but am only allowed one bottle per week - boo hoo). Also wanted to eat more lasagna and second helpings of everything.........but I don't want to part with that $200. Winners go shopping together. Yes we can and yes we will...........This is a defensive move so I can eat all I want during the Christmas season.

I've been so busy I've missed all the election coverage. I love to watch the old men and women cry as they talk about how proud they are of Obama, that their father, grandfather was a slave and they never thought they'd see the day...... Reminds me of the time I went to the Essence Awards and Rosa Parks was honored. No one could believe she was still alive which just goes to show how little we know about the civil rights movement and segregation which really was less than 40 years ago.

I always remember this story my mother told. She drove to Florida when she was in her 20's with 3 other people who fell asleep. She stopped (somewhere in Florida) for a cup of coffee and they refused to serve her because they thought she was black...(those dark skinned Moys). How funny, or rather ridiculous, or impossible to believe right now. Hopefully, we've changed since then.
